Sunday Morning
(Spencer Gibb)
He left on Sunday Morning
Had something else to do
Never stayed for coffee
Never saw it through
He never gave her Sundays
So now she's kind of sad
And if she had just one day
She'd give him all she had
And I say, sleep baby, sleep baby
Redemption is a state of mind
Just think about those other 6 days
And you'll want to fly
Want to fly
[: Flying :]
She'd only wanted mornings
Never asked for more
He'd said he'd give her Tuesday afternoon
But he really wasn't sure. No, no
Never gave her Sundays
Now he's all alone
And if he had just one day again
He'd want to be back home
And I'd say...
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Song Info: [3:45]: From the album Jez
Spencer: 4-Track Mind.
"This was another song cut in a couple of hours late one night. I was hanging out with a friend who was writing a movie about her experiences
with a bunch of different boyfriends, and she was telling me that none of them would ever spend time with her on
Sunday morning. They always got out of bed and split with some kind of excuse. So I came
home and wrote and recorded this for her. I told her about it but to this day I don't think she ever heard it. She moved to LA shortly
after that." - Spencer Gibb
